Went to a free class last night put on by USCCA. (US concealed carry association.)

It was a basic talking format class about situational awareness, and fortifying your own home.

Was interesting and had some good talking points - and being a free class had about a 10 minute timeshare style sales speech on joining USCCA - primarily focused on their insurance benefits should you be involved in a shooting.

Is anybody here members of this organization and have any thoughts positive or negative.

They have a tiered membership program (gold, platinum etc) ranging in cost from $300 -$500 a year and while I’m not a cheapskate, my first impression was this seemed high - but then again I’ve never had to try to defend myself on a justifiable shooting incident

Was a member a few years ago. Came up for renewal, and they said there would be a "minor" price increase. About 50% increase when they charged the next month. And when I complained about it, they refused to refund it, despite having a 100% satisfaction guarantee. So canceled, and will not do business with them again. I'd signed up for their Platinum level, for myself & wife. With the multi-state rider. YMMV.

I had USCCA myself for a couple years and was not happy with price increases and they didn’t want to cancel me. I switched to CCW safe no problem yet very satisfied

Actually like them, in spite of what youtubers have to say. The online training is decent. The downside it the cost. Weigh your options carefully and remember that USCCA is Training (most online is free depending on Membership Level) + Insurance. There are some good companies out there, have a friend who uses US Law Shield instead, since they also cover Hunting Incidents, USCCA only self defense, and you must do what their attorneys suggest. Only reason I do not like Attorneys on Retainer is the Owner is anti gun and ran as a democrat from what I heard on YouTube from Langley Outdoors. My wife was not thrilled with it at first, they spend a lot of time talking about when not to shoot. I get that, too often on General Social Media sites I hear "shoot them if they are breaking into your car," or "shoot them through the door," or "I would shoot them and drag them indoors."

If you don't want or won't do their training, others are far less expensive.

I've seen reports of a lot of people being unhappy with USCCA lately. No firsthand experience with them. Don't know why all the hate lately. Just what I've seen.

Maybe carpet bombing people with “sales incentives “ via text if you sign up for a class is a turn off.

Could be a new strategy to hook new members though.

Was a good class though - would’ve gladly paid a few bucks for it. Like a lot of things, was largely a review of common sense things we have all heard before but worthwhile.

I believe if I can find a stop the bleed class, I will find a place to pay the toll so I don’t have to sit through another sales presentation

uscca just adds you to an insurance policy from a third party insurer. that insurer decides whether to cover you or not. if you are convicted they have a recoupment clause were they can make you pay back all moneys spent on your defense. not to mention the members they have dropped when the were needed IE: Kayla Giles and Allan Colie. ccw safe is a much better company and is head quartered in OKC
