These can throw you, if hood light unplug or remove bulb. You didn't mention year, if later model you have to wait so many minutes for newer systems to power down before making the check with test light between cable and battery. These vehicles keep things energized for a time once key is turned off before shutting down and will lead you down the wrong path.   My 2017 leaves dash and exterior lights powered up with ignition off for several minutes.</blockquote>
