The comment of the reporter at the end stating that the police said that a gun owner needs to be ready to accept responsibility for the outcome should the issue escalate.To me, that reads as "you got lucky, but if you had to shoot the guy, you'd be liable for manslaughter, since you injected yourself into the situation."  i.e. you put yourself in harms way, thus it isn't self defense.Perhaps that's the cornerstone of our social issues:  "No good deed goes unpunished."</blockquote>
