Duh on me. I gave the number of another revo to get posted later. Picked up the wrong pistol.
The sn on the grip of the CORRECT gun is 3124xx.
The number stamped into the frame under the extractor collar is 12905.
Yes, there is a screw in the trigger guard.

I think it's a 38 M&P model of 1905-4th change. Numbers are from 241704 to 1000000. Made from 1915 to 1942.
I'd say a guesstimate would be 1917ish production

Don, this isn't a competition! I just like looking at old smiths. Tell me about that model 28,at least I think it's a 28 or is it a 27?
I'm thinking that a 3 inch model 36?

Yeah, 3" Model 36, and I do have the original grips for it. It just feels much better shooting with these grips (and it DOES get shot!)

Yes, 4" Model 28. Oddly enough, the model # is double struck, 27 over 28.
