I'll be going and taking a friend who has never seen the Big Show.

This time I've actually saved up close to 3-Grand of free money,,,
That means I'll probably not see anything I want.

If I can find a hand-guard for my WW-II bring-back K98 Mauser,,,
I'll consider it a day well spent.

Truth be known I've never bought a gun at Wannenmachers,,,
I really go there to look for hard to find accessories.

Two years ago I found 20 rounds of vintage ammo for my 8mm French Lebel revolver,,,
I would also be interested in finding any accessory pieces (oilers, stripper clips) for the Mauser.

Wannenmachers is like the state fair to me,,,
I eagerly await November every year.

My gf and I are going tomorrow. We may dress up in our SASS outfits, but not sure yet. We won’t be buying or selling anything - just going to walk around and admire (or groan over) what’s on the tables.

I take that back - she does want to get a new pair of custom ear plugs for work, from the fellow at the east end of the lower level. She goes through the plugs pretty quickly.

It had limited participation . It started very slow but finished with a florish. I met a very nice gentleman from Mississippi who showed me many pictures of his hunting opportunities around the world. They were amazing!

I walked every aisle and Sunday I was in agonizing pain,,,
I guess I am too old for that aspect of the show.

I went with a 30-year younger friend,,,
He's hurting this morning as well,,,
So I don't feel too old.

I didn't find the Mauser hand-guard I wanted,,,
Or any other accessories for that matter.

I had an interesting encounter though,,,
My Friend pointed to a rather tall gentleman,,,
And said, "I may be wrong, but isn't that Hickok45?

Turned out it was him,,,
My friend is a fan so he said hello.
They conversed for a minute or two before someone else recognized him.

I was sorely tempted by a pair of S&W revolvers though,,,
I collect rimfire/centerfire pairs of handguns,,,
One example is my S&W Models 15/18.

One seller had a pristine Model 14 and a very gently used Model 17 sitting side by side,,,
The tag prices were $895 and $825 respectively which wasn't that bad,,,
As soon as he found out I was interested in both he said,,,
How about $1,550 for the pair including tax.

Man was I tempted,,,
They really are the last pair on my list,,,
But I resisted and thanked him for the good offer.

In hindsight I believe I made the right decision to leave them there,,,
I'm retiring in 6 months and that money is better of in my savings account.

That $1,500 will buy a lot of ammunition when I retire.
