[QUOTE="dennishoddy, post: 3089159, member: 5412"] The difference in your comparison of 30-40 years ago to now is that the legal system won't let teachers paddle the kids nor discipline them without suffering loss of jobs and possible jail time. We have the Promise Program in effect in the county where the latest school shooting took place. They cannot call leo for the following offenses and must handle them within the school disciplinary process where offenders are not allowed to carry backpacks, and have to attend classes at an alternate site among other really bad punishments that are sure to correct the thug mentality of those committing those crimes. But it sure makes the crime rate look good!! Alcohol related incidents Assault/threat Bullying Disruption on campus Drug-use/possession Drug paraphernalia-possession False accusation against school staff Fighting/mutual combat Harassment Theft Trespassing Vandalism/damage to property Some of these are felonies if committed in the general public, yet are allowed to happen in Broward County schools and other schools across the nation with minimal repercussion. Example: You can beat the tar out of someone that is half your size, take his drugs, tell the school staff that a teacher wanted those drugs and you did it for them, while breaking out a window to escape with the punishment being you had to go to a classroom with other thugs that were looking for the same street creds. Isn't that gun free classroom/school a safe place for our children? Are the American people ignorant about what is going on? I sit here every night wondering how ignorant some of the people in this country can actually be, knowing this is the environment their kids are subjected to in schools and they don't want armed teachers in schools.
