Last April, I purchased a Springfield 1911 from the personal collection of a man with a table there at the big show for $725 with a box of ammo thrown in. Thanks to a heaping helping of stupid on my part (which you can click here to read about), the Irving (TX) Police Department informed me that it had been stolen in Tennessee some years back. Needless to say, I was relieved of the pistol, though they did kindly return my leather once I provided proof of purchase. All I have in the way of a record of the purchase is the check I wrote, which was payable to a man named "Rick Green." It was deposited in another state, and there the trail ends. I'm wondering if perhaps a reader of this board (maybe even Rick himself, though that may be hoping for too much) might know something about this seller and could put me in touch with him. I'm choosing to believe that he didn't know this about this history of the gun, and he'd want to, I'm sure. Also, there is that little matter of the $725 I'm out on the deal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
