Believe it or not/ i have 1 witness. I shot a coyote at I'd wager 100 to 130 yards with a 25acp colt Jr. It dropped in its tracks. After about 6 seconds it gets up and is running off plowing it's face in the dirt as it goes. Have no idea where it hit him. Maybe just enough power to knock him out, then got up. Wild story even cooler memory! First shot BTW. All luck lol

I have kind of a warm spot for little 25s and have a side collection. A lot of folks are negative about the caliber. I like the older models that were ceased to be made after the gun control act of 1968. I have an old nickel plated German made Haenel that was over engineered and has a magazine disconnect and the magazine is used to field strip the pistol. I have of course some of the old colt vest pockets and baby Browning's etc. Say what your will they have collector value.

Collecting .25 ACP pistols is a rabbit hole I could easily have fallen into,,,
I've always had an affinity for smaller things rather than the full size items.

That's why I own three Beretta Cheetahs,,,
And not one Model 92.

Several years ago I met a gentleman on another forum,,,
He had this wonderfully made shadowbox,,,
With over 20 .25 ACP pistols in it.

All of them were in working order,,,
I was so envious.

Well I might have found one,,,
A member PM'd me about one he will sell.

The best part is he offered to take me to the indoor range he is a member of,,,
And let me test fire the pistol before I hand over any cash.

It's quite a drive to his city,,,
But his asking price is acceptable,,,
And the offer to tests fire the gun is very pleasing.

I'm driving to meet him Thursday morning,,,
Hopefully the pistol checks out,,,
So I can "scratch that itch".

After you get it, if you are interested I have a factory sealed magazine sitting in front of me.
When I bought it, I thought it was for the .22.

This joke is almost as old as the cartridge itself,,,
Probably started in Mr. Browning's shop.

Remember though,,,
Back in those early days,,,
Pretty much any gut-shot was fatal.

Still wanna try it?

I have seen, via working in an ER, enormous guys shot in the chest with a .25 where the doc reached in with forceps and retrieved the bullet with no anaesthesia, couple of stitches and sent the guy home, no telling what other clothing/items hit, and have seen folk hit in the ankle, shot right in front of the hospital, a coworker and I retrieved him while everyone took cover, and that guy was in danger of losing the foot last I heard, and numerous DOAs from CNS hits. I have yet to see a detractor of any round ever volunteer to be shot with one to prove their point, most any, .22 Short, .25ACP on up can reach the spine from any angle on an average sized person if not deflected.
I used to be a sucker for vest pocket guns, the only reliable one was a Beretta Minx in .22 Short which with hi-vel Shorts penetrated 45° angled 3/4" plywood and the milk jug behind it at 5yds. My Brownings, old Sauer und Sohns, etc never were as reliable as that Minx which never malfunctioned.

Many an assassination has been successfully done with a 22. And that's basically the same as the 25.
The .22 generally has higher velocity from the small guns, plus smaller diameter, and penetrates better, whether Short, Long, or Long Rifle. Its problem being unreliable priming (especially with latest ammo batches) and finding a gun which feeds them reliably.

I've had two other little Berettas one was all blinged out and couldn't get usually more than 4 or 5 shots before a jam. The other was a plain jane model and it would shoot anything brand or weight of 22 I put in it. It loved the the 69 grain Aguila rounds but once the range got past about 10 yards they would key hole. Fun little guns for sure.
