Picked this up a couple of weekends ago. Waiting on the sights to come in for it to be complete. Have a scope on the way.
Have not shot it as of yet but it cycles nicely . Hoping the sights or the scope one arrives this weekend so I can take it to the range and see if it shoots straight.

Congrats! Any idea who made that one?

"Western Field was the name brand used by the Montgomery Ward company for their line of sporting goods including guns. Since Montgomery Ward didn't manufacture guns, they pruchased guns with Western Field markings from several gun manufacturers incuding Winchester, Savage, Mossberg, Marlin, Remington, and Colt, to name a few."

Received my scope yesterday and took this to the range today to make sure it runs!! At 35 yrds first 3 shots were 7/8 ths MOA and I was just really checking operation and not paying a whole lot of attention to aiming. While dialing in the scope, in 1 set of 3 it looked like Mighty Mouse was shooting my rifle LOL . Loose single hole clover leaf. So this rifle is more accurate than I can shoot without a lot more practice.
Had a little issue with the CCI minimag 22lr hp not ejecting several times, but the CCI quiet ran with no issues.

For a $100 rifle that was made well before I was born, I am extremely pleased. Getting all the missing parts together and adding a scope, rings and mount, I have doubled what I bought the rifle for but it is starting to look good and it shoots well.

Its has a really nice looking stock as well as your report of accuracy.
I'd say you bought a winner!

I have a Western Field as well,,,
Not the same Mossberg model as your rifle,,,
But mine shoots extremely well just like yours does.

Mine is a Western Field 815,,,
That means it is a Mossberg 320.

I even paid the same price ($100.00) as you did.

I found an older 4X scope that is of the same approximate vintage for $20.00,,,
The cantilever scope mounts set me back about $45.00,,,
But they allowed me to get the proper eye relief.

I'm using old Mil-Surp Remington LRN ammo,,,
I can hit a 1" circle every time at 50 yards,,,
That's off of a bench and rest of course.

All in all, only $165.00 for the complete rig.

Good on you for "saving" a good vintage rifle from the scrap pile,,,
These old gals still have a lot of fine life left in them.

The stock has a few dents and dings ,but nothing bad. Was going to refurb it but the rifle over all looks great so I will just give it a good cleaning and put some Johnsons paste wax on it and leave the character. Barrel exterior on the other hand has been abused so I will prolly end up duracoating it.

Got the front and rear sites in today so she is now complete!! I really like the way it looks and feels. Going to have to work the trigger guard to remove the finger grips that really make the pistol grip area feel awkward.
Like the way your scope looks on your rifle!! Thanks for sharing the pic!!

Don't ruin the grip on that rifle! The finger grooves are iconic Mossberg. Maybe remove the trigger guard and find a suitable substitute, but save the original.
