I guess this would only apply to new guns that you've had to fill out a form 4473 and had a background check done prior to purchase but do you normally go to the mfg web site and warranty register your new guns ?

Usually if I purchase a new one I will. Its mainly to keep you informed if there is a recall or issue with the item. On occasion you get on a spam email list. Just uncheck that option or opt out once you get an email. Sometimes you get a coupon or a little swag package. Really depends on the manufacture. If you keep the receipt and you do have a warranty issue. Shouldn't matter if you signed up or not in the end. Most quality manufactures have lifetime warranty, some others only still have one year but its usually reflected in their price.
