We had one of those canvas, reusable blue TFCU grocery bag things over halfway full of candy. The good stuff, too. Nerds, Fun Dip, Reese's PB Cups (full size), Krackles, Mr Goodbars, Starburst liquid-filled gummies, and some other stuff. Giving 3-5 pieces per kid, we were emptied out by 8:30. Tons of kids rolling through my neighborhood. A few said absolutely nothing, no "trick or treat!" or "thank you", but the rest of the kids said both. I was surprised with the amount of "Thank you!", "Have a nice night!" and "Happy Halloween!" phrases I heard from kids as young as probably 3-4 years old to pre/young teens. On two separate occasions I was excitedly double-thanked for the Nerds and the Lick-a-Maid Fun Dip. Great turnout tonight in both quantity and quality. Made for the best Halloween for us yet. The young one emptied her bucket on the floor and I was surprised with the quality of candy in her haul, too. Almost all winners! Only two Tootsie Rolls. Only 2 Milky Ways. Only 2 3Musketeers, but tons of Snickers, Butterfingers, Baby Ruths, full size Reese's PB cups, Pixy Stix and other great candies. Back in my day, half of the booty was crap like those dumb peanut butter chews in the orange and black waxy wrappers. The Milky Way to Snickers ratio was way too lopsided to the wrong side. More Tootie Rolls than I could count. Not that we were ungrateful for it, as we always had a blast trick or treating no matter what we brought back.
