Water Heater Help

Do my first water heater. Everything has been pretty straight forward but I cannot get the old water heater out. It won't budge! Bought the house new and this is the original heater and no idea how the contractors locked this thing down. Here's a pic. Anyone seen this before? It seems the heater is attached to the metal pan which is attached to the wood frame below it.

Man I bet that's what it is because when I went to let the water out not very much at all drained. Don't know how I'm going to get this out yikes!

How big is your opening? The same gallon tank is wider than it was a few years ago. The newer ones have more insulation. We had to take all the trim off my neighbors closet to get the new one in.

You may not have an option other than just toppling it out. That’s what had to do with my last one.

Its not attached. its just damn heavy. Have you drained it yet?

I wonder if one shot an air tank down one of the upper pipes with the drain open?

It's a 65 gallon tank so it's heavy when empty lol. I'm going to put some straps around it and pull it a bit with me atv and see if it moves. It's in the garage in a good location. Wish me luck!

Maybe dumb question, but you opened some faucets or unhooked a line at the top to let air in so it will drain, right?
