Update: After I posted the above comment last night, I got to thinking that maybe she was from Oregon? Until about a year or so ago, Oregon had the law that everyone had to get their gas pumped for them. In some of the major metropolitan areas, that may still be true. We knew some folks up there that had never pumped their own gas, and they weren't youngsters either.
