Since I am down to a lever gun and an old bolt action shotgun, I would probably spend the grand on a HD 12 gauge and a 9mm pistol.

If I didn't need the basics, I would get an AR and ammo with the 1K.

hmmm. I think what i would go for is SBR AR platform, not sure what HKs run but i think i may be close.

I'd add a few hundred more and get a S&W 627 V-Comp to go with my 629 V-Comp. If it had to be under $1k I'd buy a Colt SAA .45 Colt (assuming I could find one under a grand).
