I am immensely proud of my state. It irks me that Texas has such a huge propaganda machine, yet you have to look long and hard to find any sort of "Oklahoma-proud" clothing. The great thing about being an Okie is that we're great. After the election I was lamenting the fact that my vote didn't matter. Oklahoma was voting Red no matter what. Then I realized I would rather live in a state full of sane people than for my vote to matter. I know a lot of us have been feeling doom and gloom for awhile now. . .politics from Washington, pressure from anti-gunners, just general depressing "I miss the America of old" type stuff. Oklahoma is fairly isolated from a lot of that. We have oil money. Our legislative bodies are becoming more conservative with each election. We have an Attorney General who is happy to thumb his nose at the Fed. We have schools (particularly in the rural areas) full of Christian teachers and admins who are still allowed to discipline students. Oklahoma may be boring. . .and that's perfectly fine. I have no intention of ever living anywhere else.
