What Skills do you possess?

I lack what they call, the social skills.

I can pretty much do anything. I'm no rugged mountain man, but for the things I don't have experience in, I am confident I could figure them out.

I have Macgyver qualities. I can make just about anything. I am a mechanic, a machinist, and a TIG welder.

But wait Dave! You'll need electricity to do a lot of that stuff! Duh! Generator.

I can hunt and fish, butcher or clean whatever i kill. I'm really good at starting fires and keep them going. I'm also pretty mechanically inclined.

Like others have stated, for some of us whats on the list would have been considered chores when we were growing up. I was born an raised on a farm that also operated a grist mill till the early 70's. I have hiked all of the App. trail from its start in Ga to the northern parts of N. Carolina. This was all done prior to my joining the US Army. I learned very early on how to make fires with flint and steel, and using a bow. I still keep a flint and steel set in my kit bag, both old and modern.


I would also suggest to folks to learn about "Black Powder" firearms i.e. Flint locks. Black Powder can be made, along with melting lead for shot. Something you can't do with mettalic cartridges for the long haul. with most Flint fireing firearms you'll only get the one shot. Someone mentioned H2H skills, so here is where knowledge of how to use a hatchet come into play.

I haven't used my outdoors skillz in many years. I need to brush up on them. These days my skills include taking naps, driving in normal traffic conditions, ordering from a menu, and checking email.
