If you are looking to build an authentic M24 clone (long action and all), my advice would be to stop and just save your money for an actual M24. I believe you can still get them from Remmy, if not, there are places that specialize in M24 clones.

In all honesty, I would rather start with a 700 in .308 and dress it up like one.

exactly, i picked up a 700 tactical, chucked a leo LRT 4.5 X14 scope and a harris on it and it shoots like a champ (not sure if the dummy with the finger has anything to do with that). wasnt cheap but it wasnt 5600. either.

I think that's what I will do. Ill get a 700 varmint and then scope it. Thanks guys!
