Where/who can I take guns to for history research and/or appraisal in OKC area?

I have a couple of items that I would like to find out about. Best guesses so far is that they’re Ottoman flintlock blunderbuss pistols. I have no idea where I could take them for a true evaluation. The brass colored one is definitely a wall hanger meant for display only, but the darker one has been called authentic by the people I’ve shown it to so far. The hammer and trigger function on the dark one whereas the trigger and hammer do not seem to have any connection on the brass one.

If anyone has any ideas on where I could take these to find out some more about their history, it would be greatly appreciated!!

There used to be a guy at the Historical Museum up at the Capitol but he was 110 when I was in my early 40s so I doubt he is even still on this side of the realm. Let me ask Grumpy and see if he knows anyone over there who might help you out.

That said, we have some awful knowledgeable guys around here. @Matt Giroux ...

This makes me miss Neanderthal!! 😭😭😭😭

Going strictly off photos, without holding them in my hands I’m going to parrot those before me. It is likely they are older reproduction pieces. Some of the metal working and “patina” looks to be forced either through hand tooling or electrolysis style. I would have to put hands on to confirm.

That’s perfectly fine with me if they’re entirely for display. They’ve been sitting around in boxes or a shelf with my family for the last 50-60 years, so I might make a wall display out of them.
