Starting Nov. 1st, any home owner can be anywhere on their property with a pistol, rifle or shotgun without a permit. So brandishing or checking out a strange noise while armed will not be a problem. I use to be of the inclination to stay inside and just call the police if I had a prowler. But these days, it could take a long time for the police to arrive and a bad guy could steal a lot of expensive tools from the workshop in that time. Being on a fixed income, I'm no longer inclined for my home or workshop to become a 'supermarket' for the local druggies and thieves to come along looking for something to pawn for quick cash. So I and 3 of my neighbors look out for each other. We see a strange vehicle or person [day or night], in the alley or parked in front of the house.. the police get called & we arm ourselves. As for the weapon I'll grab. I've got a Glock 23 w/ laser in a matress buddy mounted holster.. but for checking around the house at night, I've about decided on my S&W M&P 15-22. It has a holographic red dot & flashlight. And I can pop-off 25 rounds of CCI .22LR Stingers extremely fast.. just as fast as I can squeeze the trigger. 1640 FPS. Not much different from having 25 pellets of OO buck shot... but quieter.
