Hi, Victorinox IS the only swiss army knife. I've had many since I was 15 and they are a mandatory useful item. One word of warning however - six is a very young age to manage one of these. They are very sharp and the blades are tensioned so they will snap shut when closed. Before turning him loose with a sharp one, you might get one and purposefully dull the blades so he can practice with it without getting cut. It is all too easy to have a finger in the way when you aren't experienced with them and cut yourself. Three models to consider: Tinker - if you want a basic model. http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Swiss-Tinker-Pocket-Knife/dp/B00004YVB4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351905308&sr=8-1&keywords=victorinox+tinker Super Tinker - it adds scissors. When I upgraded to this model I couldn't believe how I ever got along without the scissors. http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Swiss-Super-Tinker-Pocket/dp/B000MLU8PE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1351905330&sr=8-3&keywords=victorinox+tinker Deluxe Tinker - it adds scissors and pliers. When I upgraded to this model I couldn't believe how I ever got along with the pliers in addition to the scissors. http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Swiss-Army-Deluxe-Tinker/dp/B000MLU8SQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1351905347&sr=8-5&keywords=victorinox+tinker Good luck, Alan
