If anyone needs to add quick release spring bars to a strap, but doesn't want to spend $500 on the Bergeon tool. I've found a cheaper alternative on Amazon. Time will tell how many straps it will punch before it dulls, but it's been perfectly serviceable on the two straps that I've cut so far. The stiffer the leather, the cleaner it tends to cut. The Horween strap below is about as soft as you'll get and it still cut it pretty cleanly.

The stiffer the leather the better the cut? Man, that thing should cut within 5 microns surface finish on that jacket of mine, if it doesn't explode.
I had no idea anyone was making such a tool and thought that frequent strap shoppers were doomed to wear only those straps sold with QR bars installed. Thanks for the lesson in how little I know.
