I can shoot up to 1/2 mile at the farm, but typically go to the Ponca City range. Benches already set up with shade covers and ranges out to 300 yards. Indoor ranges bore me for the most part.

I’ll go to public ranges, but they are not my favorite. Usually outdoor isn’t too bad, because they are out of the way. Half the time at an indoor range I end up packing up early, because a group of idiots strolls in with totes full of rental guns. The only reason I’d really go to an indoor range is weather, or hopefully to attend my first ENS soon!

I've thought about doing something like that where I hunt since I could shoot at 400 yards no issues. My only concern is that it would affect the number of deer there come hunting season. Is that ever a concern for you?

Not really, we limit our activity starting around the first of September and haven’t noticed a reduced number of deer.

After this AR lower group buy, next we need to do a land group buy and setup an outdoor range for everyone to use. Who wants to coordinate that haha

I don’t really hunt since I lost my dad, but we used to shoot during the off season at our spot. It was his friends land, and what really made for a bad season was when there were cows out there. I think deer would have a hard time finding a place that has NO activity year round, and they have to be somewhere!

We actually pay for a quarter that we don’t hunt much. The owner moves the cattle in to it during hunting season. My experience is that deer will simply go where the cows aren’t.

There wasn’t much escaping them. They liked the pond and the wooded creek leading up to it, which is also where the deer liked. The cows would also mess up camp and vehicles if you didn’t watch it.

If we got 500 of the regulars together and each gave $500, we would have $250k to put towards a range, land, and 500 people for labor. We could set up something between Tulsa and OKC and have enough land for everything from a short range pistol/shotgun defensive course all the way out to 1k yards. I'm sure we would have enough people that have tractors and heavy equipment to make berms and the like too. All we would need is some awnings, a fence, some land cleared, some concrete benches/tables, and lumber for targets. maybe if we wanted to get crazy we could bring out a few junk cars or a manufactured home someone needs to dump to transform into a training house. I don't know if it would be logistically possible with so many chiefs donating money, but it would be super cool if we made it happen.
