I have few contender and few encore love shooting them. Mostly I shoot pistol length for fun my favorite calibers are 7mmTCU, 375JDJ and 45/70 but I have many other calibers. What caliber do you shoot?
My room mate was looking for an Encore action or complete gun at Tulsa Saturday, we found one 16" barrelled 308 and 4 regular Contenders total. All were stupidly overpriced

Contender in 256 win mag, 357 mag, 7TCU, 7-30 waters and 30 herret
All them are good calibers. I had the kill few animals with waters. I have a Herret that I need to drag out and work a load.
I competed in IHMSA handgun silhouette matches for over 25 years and I had several Contender and Encore frames and barrels that I've sold in the past few years for lack of use along with my Remington center grip XP-100's.
I did keep one Encore frame and scoped 15" barrel chambered in 6.5x55 Swede.

I have owned several Contenders, but I switched to Encores about 20 years ago. I currently have a MGM 270 Win, TC Custom Shop 308 Win, MGM 9.3x74r, and a MGM/Arrowhead smokeless 45 cal muzzleloader.
I have a love/hate relationship with the G1 having to break it over to re cock it.
