Why do C3 dealers keep old inventory on their websites? I'm searching for some items and every time I find what I'm looking for it shows the item as sold.

Some C3's have complete sites of sold inventory. Is this for bragging or just to annoy possible customers? Seeing as I'm new to the class 3 world, just wanted to know how this became the standard.

Could be that it gets your attention and they could try to sell you something else they have. OR, just too lazy to update the website.

They may not remove the items from the site until the item is actually transferred. You're looking at 6 months of being on hold for the ATF to issue the stamp, if the buyer got denied it's already online with several months worth of exposure.
