Why such a short gun season?

Doesn't matter what ODWC does, what season is set or limits; somebody gonna whine about it.

I was on lease that the land owner had a self imposed reg of either sex legal the first 2 weekends. Buck only after that.

First year, I took a doe both weekends.
Second year, repeat. One of the old guys commented, "your ruining opening weekend shooting does."

"Nope, I'm filling my freezer. I got plenty of time to hunt a buck.

The next year, the herd ratio started getting better balanced.

Lease prices are ridiculous, as are out of State licenses. Price of fishing license is just plain stupid.

Found this from link above.
WHAT WE BELIEVE: The state's fish and wildlife belong to all Oklahomans and should be managed so their populations will be sustained forever.

Is the ODWC motto “hunters in the know take a doe”?
It’s their deer management mantra, but look at how much of the state is private vs public hunting. A lot of public isn’t open to gun hunting- there’s just too much pressure.

As for muzzleloader season, I would love to see “primitive arms” season return. Ever since they started allowing inlines and scopes, the trans community has made muzzle loader hunter numbers skyrocket.
