I have a regular 1300 in 12 ga here. Compared to the 500s that I've fired, its more like how they dont measure up to the 1300. Smoother action, faster cycling. Safety isnt in as good of spot as a 500 though. Cant really compare to a 870, never fired one.

Good shotgun, have had a few but prefer the 870 in take down for cleaning, mossy prefered because of shell lifter. They all kick the same with 00 buck.

Im with Shotty on that.

I like the 870, and it seems like replacement parts are plentiful.

But, I've had (currently have one) a couple of 1300s that slicked up with a little work, and made very useful shotguns.

I think the 870 and the Mossberg are more reliable in the long run than the 1300. Winchester's quality seemed to take a real dip in some of the recent models, while Mossberg's quality has steadily improved. YMMV. CB
