Message: <blockquote data-quote="OK Corgi Rancher" data-source="post: 3816369" data-attributes="member: 45773"><p>I'm not certain about this but it seems to me these turbines would need to be rotated to keep the shafts and other parts from becoming damaged from the extreme weight they're subjected to.  For the same reason some larger ships keep propeller shafts rotating slowly when not underway.  I forget what this is called but I know it's a thing for large, shaft-driven machinery.  That would take power, too, in addition to cooling, power for lights, etc...</p></blockquote><p></p>
