Its not a williams foolproof but I have a two tone skinner lo-pro receiver peep and dovetail fill blank sitting around here somewhere

You might also consider the Lyman 66MC receiver peep sight, P/N 3662281. It's discontinued by Lyman but I bought one like-new used on Rimfire Central Classified.

You're correct. I've been looking at the Lymans and also Redfields. All of them seem to be hard to come by now that Marlin no longer produces the rifle. I bought a really nice 1897 Century Limited and want to put something on it that is either new or new condition. I want a target model that is a side mount.
