I just got the Bushnell Elite 4200 from Cabelas for $179 with free shipping. The glass on that thing is awesome. Most of the reviews I read placed it in the same level as the Leupold VX-III.

Do you have the box handy? What is the model number. I just ordered the Bushnell Elite from Cheaper than Dirt and it didn't say 4200. The one I got is:

Manufacturer: Bushnell E3940SF
UPC: 029757010315

1. I quit buying "budget" scopes several years ago. Buy a good scope the first time; it will be cheaper in the long run.

2. If you need it like I did, I would call Bushnell customer service bad. Of course, if you never need it, it's a moot point. Bushnell also makes Tasco scopes by the way.

3. As far as I know, the newer Leupold scopes don't say made in the U.S.A. though they're assembled here. Sadly, most of the very good optics (i.e., glass) comes from Europe or Japan and not the U.S.A.

I 100% agree with you. Cry once.

Here's the link to the scope on Cabelas. Looks like it went up $20.

Thanks! I did some more research and it looks like Bushnell dropped the 3200 and made it the Trophy line. And the 4200 line become the new Elite. On my box it says "Limited Edition" whatever that means.

Quality scope with an unconditional lifetime warranty on a budget, here you go-

Sightron 3-9x42. Retails for $249.95 At Midway, read the reviews- http://www.midwayusa.com/product/868254/sightron-sii-rifle-scope-3-9x-42mm-duplex-reticle-matte

Here it is on samplelist for 179.95- http://www.samplelist.com/-P3357.aspx

Use this $75 rebate and you own it for $104.95- http://www.sightron.com/index.php?action=view_document&path=%A6%DD%D4%DA%9E%D7%E6%D5%C6%97%E6%D4%D9%CC%C6%DE%9E%E2%E0%CF%C9%DC%E1%DE%E5%C7%C5%CD%E5%9E%EB%CD%D4%DC%CE%D3%E6%CB%D4%97%B7%DE%E4%CD%81%B8%D0%D6%DC%97%AF%BA%B0%CE%E7%DA%D0%D5%DE%9D%E7%D0%D1&did=1201912997

If you want opinions from guys that actually get out there and use the equipment for competition on a regular basis go over to- http://benchrest.com/forum.php and dig around...search for Sightron, I'll bet you will run across the Weaver name while you're there.

You won't get the chic tactical look, and Leupold sucks, but a simple set of their mounts will hold it on the rifle for a few decades.
You don't need "BO" rings and base, It's not S&B, Premier, USO, Hensoldt, Night Force, Razor HD or Viper PST, so you won't win the popularity contest with it anyway.
But, You will get quality glass and a reliable optical rifle sight without burning a $3000 hole in your pocket.
