When I was a kid growing up in Northeast Kansas my father made us kids a crystal radio. We could pick up KOMA in OKC, WLS out of Chicago, KAAY out of Little Rock and some station out of Fort Worth. I don't remember the call sign for the station out of Fort Worth. We could pickup stations out of Kansas City and of course the local AM radio station. Much like John6185, we did not have a television at that time. My father was a ham radio buff and tried to teach us Morse Code. I don't believe I ever caught on to Morse Code.
