Why does the youth tag expire on 12/31 instead of the end of season? Just curious

I think adult expires the same way.
It did a few years ago anyway.
It is a year by year thing.

Get the youth a lifetime for Christmas and never worry about it again.
I really like a bargain and a lifetime does pay for itself.

I see where you are coming from though and the season tag should expire after the season not on 12-31

You are 100% correct! I have a lifetime and never thought about it being a new year, always thought it was "the season" since it counts toward the previous year after Jan. 1st.

Yep! They also allow a payment plan. (Doesn't become valid until paid in full IIRC.)

Dunno, but if you don’t fill the tag it’s still valid for Oct 1- Dec 31 2021

I got my son a lifetime when he was 4 years old.
You do not have to wait until they are of age to require a license to get one.

I did the same Swamp, bought my oldest 2 before the price went up in 03. They were 5 and 1 at the time I tried to buy one for my unborn boy but they needed a SS #. Lol
He got an expensive one but they have paid for themselves multiple times. The 1 year old is a Sr in HS now and is killing a lot of ducks with virtual school.

Both my sons got a lifetime Hunting and fishing license as graduation presents. At the time I think they thought they got shorted, but as time went along they really appreciated the convenience of having one.

Hmmm... what happens if ya have a lifetime license, and later decide to move out of state? Is it resident only?

No, the lifetime stays with you even if moving out of state. My oldest lives in Tx now but still uses his license legally.
