I put a youth stock on my 20ga 870. It's trivial--take off the recoil pad (two screws), then remove the stock screw. As others have said, it's only 1" shorter; a better plan would be to cut one shorter if you need.
I once shot a 10/22 that somebody had cut 3 1" slices off of the end, then screwed them all back together. Ugly, but easy to adjust an inch at a time. You might think about using something like that as she grows up.
