Zombie rifle

Asumming that a zombie apocolypse ever did happen what would be the best caliber/rifle to split their heads with? Keep in mind you might have to carry 500 rounds of this stuff and be able to find it.(been watchin the walking dead-assume this scenerio)

IDK if i would trust a 22lr to penetrate a human/zombie skull. But here's a thought a nice 357mag lever gun and a pair of revolvers in the same caliber would be plenty of power and you could just keep one type of ammo around. Not sure of the range of 357 in a rifle though.

I was thinking about the two 300 subsonic calibers but ammo would be really scarce.
