10/22 secondary, as it will fit in most packs. 1000rds easily
Glock 21 on the hip
Remember you have to have room in the pack for food and water filtration, fire starters, etc...

AK or AR...higher magazine size, better (double perhaps?) penetration, ability to kill animals for food, good against "bandits", but still fairly light to carry (hence the purpose of 5.56)....not mention to the government supply of 5.56 in a Walking Dead-esque situation

After writing about the 357s I noticed in another thread that Olympic make a 10mm upper for the AR's, that and a glock 20 sounds good too but 10mm isn't very plentyfull. I'm not sure that 100yards is the most you need to care about sooner or later you might need to clean a whole town up and a nice tower or high spot with a scope might be the way to go. I do think useing the same ammo in your rifle and pistol would be a major plus.

Towers remove mobility from a shooter. Think Austin Tx back in the day.
