Looking at the Canon lens that you mentioned you had an interest in, I went to my favorite "research" site online to check out photos taken by others using the Canon EF-S 18-200mm IS lens. My research site is called "Pbase." At their home page, there is a link to "Cameras" that allows one to choose specific brand name and models of cameras and lenses to see sample photos taken by others with those photographic devices. In this case, I simply found the link for the lens you mentioned.
That lens is what I would call a "walk-around" lens that allows one the flexibility of getting wide angle or telephoto images by zooming in or out. The images I link below were some I found, although I don't know the exact size of the subjects in each of the photos. Thus, these will only give you a sense of the quality of the images with that lens. Many photographers state that the lenses are more important than the camera body, so I am focusing only on the lens at this time.
None of these images really get as close to the subject as you will want to with regards to taking pictures of the works of the watches. They just give a sense of the clarity and sharpness of the lens.

In the event that you would also want this lens for family or vacation photos, the link below will take you to the start of the sample photos done by the lens. Each "page" will have a number of thumbnails that you can click on to see larger images. I use this "Cameras" site on Pbase a lot when evaluating lenses or camera bodies. After each series of thumbnails, there is a link labeled "More" in the upper right hand corner that will let you go to the next set of thumbnails.
