I'm not EE, but I considered it... ended up being CS, now an IT guy who does lighting design from time to time on the side...
Here is what I came up with... I'm hoping to get them put up on the house tomorrow, but I'm sure you'll get the idea...

The entries to the kitchen, living room, and formal dining room are all arched. The formal has the tray ceiling you saw and the living room has the similar double tray. The master bed has a vaulted ceiling and the master bath/closet has a 10' ceiling, but everything is pretty plain in the rest of the house.
We're 99% finished with the tree. We didn't have enough garland to do this big boy. Gotta run get some more then I'll post a finished pic.

Oh and Santa didn't bring the cat! LOL......
Here is my exterior (at least the front). I did put lights on the sides and back too, but its pretty plain. There are 1000 lights on that front tree!!!!!
Tree is up, y'all can send my presents to me now!
