Do they have a lab capable of that in Afghanistan? That would make it plausible.

Bagram has a nearly full blown hospital...and there are a few other U.S. military bases with fixed wing capable airfields within helicopter range of the 'compound'. One in particular is less than 200. Pretty easy, and quick to helo his corpse to a fixed wing airfield and from there to a carrier.

As to the need for pictures....how many know what Bin Laden looks like up close? Nobody here. How many have seen what a high velocity rifle round does to a human head, probably not many here. What exactly would a picture of a bearded man with a bloated, bloody and deformed head prove? Nothing.

1. The doubters are going to doubt the authenticity of the image(s) once they are released.
2. The doubters are so blinded by their own intelligence that they seem to ignore that Osama Bin Laden would simply need only to release a video proving he wasn't dead to disclaim any claims otherwise.

I'm not a conspiracy nut. The official story seemed logically implausible on the surface. Like I said, others with reasonable credibility came along with much better information than I was going on and I admitted that I'm wrong.

As for what a rifle round will do to a human head, 5.56mm/.223 - yes, .308 - no. Those are the two most likely calibers I expect.

I wouldn't try to verify the photos myself. I'd leave that up to the "other side". People forget that the enemy also uses the Internet and has their own niche carved out in their corner, and yes, those places are accessible by U.S. users, too.

As for rhodesbe's video theory, bin Laden videos have been known to be released much later than they were filmed. It's entirely plausible that someone in his position would film a contingency video.

I just went through and read this 22 page cesspool of a thread again. I found exactly one poster demanding pictures before he would believe Osama is dead. One poster. A couple other posters mentioned wanting to see pics out of morbid curiosity. A couple others said things like "they might as well show pics". One poster directly questioned the validity of the DNA test and called for pics. I may have missed one or two, but there still wasn't many. I only found the one.

Quite a lot of "conspiracy theorist" quips being thrown around in a 22 page thread that might have one actual conspiracy theorist in it.

It's real interesting how people marginalize the minority opinion. I assume I'm being counted as a "conspiracy theorist" because of what I posted in this thread. I assume others with similar opinions are as well. Questioning the reactions to Bin Laden's death = conspiracy theorist. Real easy to call someone crazy and move on. Requires no effort.

A taliban cell in Pakistan has already announced they will be releasing a new tape from bin laden. Intelligence officials state that the tape has been in the works for some time now.

Pictures of bin ladens corpse will likely be released in the next couple of days. Officials state that it is very obvious from the pictures that it is in fact bin laden.
Besides DNA they also used facial recognition software.

Apparently they seized a large amount of documents and evidence. So much that they have created a special task force to digest the intell before it loses it's value.
It will be very interesting to watch and see if there are new raids and arrests in the near future based on that intell.
