I had it once and it took a very long time to get over it. Stretching helps but never tried the other remedies. Hope you get over it soon as it really crimps
ones life!

Have had it for several months. It got to be a real problem.
Walking was misery.
Getting out of bed, I was basically "hop along cassidy".

I finally went to the doctor.
He gave me a shot.
Oh my f**ing God!!!!! Ouch.

Now, that might have been somewhat the docs fault.
As he was giving me the injection, he was smiling at me saying "ya know, Dave, I'm getting sort of a perverse pleasure out of this."

He doesn't like the Dentist.

It was well worth it.

I had the soup can by my desk so I could roll my foot for a while and that helped.
Whenever I would sit by the computer to work, I rolled my foot.
Worked very well until we ran out of Chicken Noodle in the pantry and needed another Can!!!

Still sore occasionally, but I would be much worse without having gotten the injection.

My personal opinion on cortisone shots and pain killers is that they hide the pain but do not cure. Masking pain is a good way to increase the injury. Proper shoes and stretching get my vote. May take longer with pain but you can get over it. Works for me.

I had it. Tried the splint, but couldn't sleep like that.

Ibuprofen is your friend, a stronger anti-inflammatory you can ask for from your doc is something called diclofenac, trade names were Cataflam and Voltaren. 75mg twice a day works better than anything but Celebrex in my experience. If you've no stomach problems or history of gastrointestinal bleeding, the diclofenac should be reasonably safe for you for a few months. I have found diclofenac (dye-KLOE-fuh-nack) to be worlds above most other anti-inflammatories - even Mobic.

The stretches are what cured mine. Lots and lots of stretching.Toes up as high on the wall as you can reach them with your heel on the ground, then lean into the wall and stretch that sole out, little by little, day by day.

Nobody was puttin' a needle in the sole of my foot!

Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice and experience, I think I am gonna do the stretches and water bottle for a while and see if that helps before I do the shot. I'm not so much worried about the shot hurting as much as I am about the shot doing permanent damage to the natural padding in the heels. I said not worried as much but dang near as much..LOL .

I am in the same boat. I had a series of three shots in both feet...it was horrible! It definitely helped for about a month and a half but now I'm back to where I was. Keep wearing the arch supports and do the stretches...my left foot is getting considerably better but my right isn't. I'm afraid surgery is in my near future.

The shots are brutal and I wouldn't get them again. So to answer your question more directly, NO it's not worth it.

Doc told me not to hobble around because of the pain because that only makes it worse, just walk normal and not favor it and although it is painful for a few dozen steps it quickly stops hurting. I followed her advice and it worked, I now have no pain and have basically forgotten about it.

I didn't even know you could get shots for that.

I had it relatively bad a year or so ago and I had to simply muscle through it by stretching. Have to admit, it took months to heal up completely, though.
