Ha, that's probably in the top 10 lists of songs I walk around singing. I like the kitchen table version with the "Happy Enchilada" story. Impossible to watch this and not smile. "Wedding ring. It gets in the way sometimes."

Master indeed. I don't think there's ever been a songwriter that had the serious/hilarious dichotomy down like JP. Often on the same album, and sometimes in the same song. If RidgeHunter ruled the world folk & country music studies would be a required course in high schools, with a big unit on JP.

Lol the happy enchilada... I like it.

Speaking of folk studies, the final should take place here: www.cayamo.com

One of these days, I WILL take this cruise and be in singer/songwriter heaven. The likes of Lyle, John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Richard Thomson, Greg Brown, etc... all on one big venue is almost too much. In past years they've had Raitt too. Seven days of ocean and song.

EDIT:

Songs like "Angel from Montgomery" prove that Prine can do anything... he writes a song about a middle-aged, forlorn housewife and captures so fully that you'd imagine him to be one.

We cremated my dad when he died a couple years ago. He had no plans in place, he had just turned 63 3 days prior. We paid about 6k for the funeral and all that. you don't have to buy a fancy urn, we just got himbag in a cardboard box. They we spread part of him in the Pourde River in Colorado.

My plans are to be shot out of a cannon through a ring of fire and into the 6X6 pit in the ground. The night before though my surviving friends have to take me to the bar and leave me in the corner. Just to see how long it takes for them to notice i am dead. I would also like my wake to be a roast.

my grandma, mom and uncle were all cremated. It is much cheaper than a regular burial. My grandma and moms ashes were scattered in the flower bed in my front yard on my land where i grew up and my uncles were scattered where he made his last stand against his own brother and where his 71 roadrunner was parked for 20 years.

My wife and I recently had this conversation after her aunt passed. She doesn't care what happens to her. I told her specifically that I wanted her to buy a looooooong coffin for me. I'm an easy 6'6". Until I was married, I slept in twin size bed and the mattress stopped mid-calf. I hated it. I told her I couldn't stand the thought of being cramped in a coffin forever. I don't need anything fancy, just roomy. I'm leaving her enough life insurance she can at least buy me a coffin that fits. I don't care if I'm dead. It's just the principle.
