I mounted a shotgun behind the headboard of our bed. It stays loaded with 00 buck. The problem is that as I pull it from the headboard, the barrel is pointed right at my wife. Worried that if the adrenaline were kicked in during an emergency, it might accidentally fire.

Next place I'm looking is at the edge of the bed by the bed skirt. Anyone have a good picture of their setup, or other ideas of where to safely keep a loaded shotgun in semi-plain sight?

Since it doesnt sound like you are worried about locking it up why not just slide it under the bed? Thats where my mossberg lives in an unziped tac case ready to go.

My 20Ga coach gun fits perfect between the bed and night table. Both barrels have a piece of masking tape over them to keep out dust, and critters.

How about fabricating two hooks and mounting it to the side bed rail, pointing toward the foot of the bed? You might be able to adapt two of those mount hooks like the ones you used to see in the rear windows of pickups all the time.
