Like what? They could have already had civil unions which would have had the same legal benefits of marriage. I doubt very many people would have a problem with that. I know I wouldn't. Hell, they could even call it marriage! That wasn't good enough because they have to have it in a church with a ceremony so they can feel better about it. Never mind that in order to do that they pretty much have to change our religion to suit their needs. Of course people are going to fight that, now we're back to having our morals defined for us and we're intolerant if we don't go along with it.
I already think it's against the law to discriminate against gays in the job place. What else aren't they getting? I guess I just don't see it. They even got hate crime legislation passed, which I think is nonsense.
The fact is, there are a lot of things other people do that I might find immoral. It isn't for me to judge any of them cause I'm nowhere near perfect. I don't judge 'em and I don't shun 'em, I just don't take part in whatever it is they do that I don't like. I do have a problem when people of any group that I disagree with tries to remove my right to disagree while playing the victim. Suing churches for not performing gay weddings on the grounds of discrimination even though it is against the church's religion to do so is an example. Teachers in school teaching my kids that homosexuality is normal and OK when it is my place to decide what to teach them is another.

You seem to be under the impression that homosexuality is a choice. That people willingly choose to be a minority group often violently targeted and harassed.

When your religion teaches you that homosexuality is immoral, your religion is wrong. Schools are designed to teach facts, not bigoted opinions spawned church and based on absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever. Being born gay is no more immoral than being born black, as neither are immoral acts. To think otherwise is beyond ignorant and to teach your children such ignorance is dangerous and harmful to them and to others.

Diversity trainers will tell y'all how much richer we are because of our diversity. Then they'll spend an hour telling you what behavior and language is and isn't acceptable.

While we stress uniformity and repeatablity in our processes, because predictability and standard processes benefit business.

It had nothing to do with the church or ceremony part. It had everything to do with the principle of calling it something other than Marriage that is afforded to same sex couples. Is my marriage to my wife a civil union because I don't believe in an Christian or Abrahamic God? Is it any less legally recognized as a marriage because of that?

Some of you may have straight kids. And by the time they hit the work force they will be competing for jobs against people saying they are gay. As everything is redefined - and by the end of 3.5 years it will be, gays will have preferences in hiring.

Then why did they sue pastors?
Go to the justice of the peace and be done with it. What does the name matter anyway? It doesn't to me. And what is wrong with baby step? Do civil unions and let everybody get used to it and then move to gay marriage when the hubbub dies down. Whatever, I don't really care as long as they don't force it into churches.
By the way the bible doesn't say that athiests cannot marry but it does have quite a lot to say about homosexuality. In fact, if you are an athiest and you marry a Christian woman according to the bible she is your path to heaven. So you see, while you thought you were socking it to me there actually is a difference. Try again.

Yet again you have graced us with your liberal nonsense. Being gay might not be a choice, which is another debate, but sodomy sure as hell is. And who in the hell are you to decide that another person's moral values are ignorant? It's awful funny that liberals like you demand tolerance while offering none. I didn't say a single bad thing about gay people. I just expressed different beliefs and stated that I tolerate theirs as long as they don't trample mine. I guess you're too small to do the same.
