So, is it illegal to flash at someone in front of you? I won't lie, I've done it. Picked it up in Germany.

No, it's illegal, and stupid, to ride someone's tail (in an attempt to intimidate them to move over or any other reason)...which has already been stated in this thread, and what the motorist was cited for.

I picked up the "light flash" when I was overseas too...but the key with that was it was a friendly and safe request/warning well in advance of overtaking someone.

These days folks just weave into the lane, climb onto your trunk and expect you to yield which, since I'm an a##hole, usually has the opposite effect.

I dunno about you guys but I get real nervous when folks try and ride up my butt like that. Tends to make me slow way down ... it's hard to watch traffic and stare into the rearview mirror ...

I am almost ashamed to admit I am the same way. If I am doing 5 over in the left lane and the jackass behind that wishes to do 15 or 20 over wants to adhere to the 1/4 second rule he better get comfortable cuz I tend to double check my pace with the guy beside me which usually takes a mile or two. I am a little slow a reading lips so I will spend a little time trying to figure out what he is saying in the rearview mirror. Eventually I will get bored and move ahead or behind the guy I am beside. If I am in a really good mood I will move over to the right lane. I don't do this all of the time but if people want to be a super duper ******* I can be one back.

I never have understood why overseas they use horns and flashing lights like a second language, domestically it is a sign of aggression.
