I made a big stink in Moore back in the mid 80's when i was in school.
I would not let cops or anyone push me around...Yes i paid for that..every time i turned around i was getting some phony ticket.
One Drafting teacher that i liked and thought he liked me gave me an F
I was always first to hand work in and got 100 A+ on everything.
I helped the other students in the class with his permission...Then report card came..and F.. I told him there was a mix up
and he stated no mix up i failed you because i do not like your attitude..WTF!!! I was perfect in that class, never spoke without getting an ok..
F HIM.. I told him that was BS and it was really stupid of him to do that and buy a brand new truck at the same time.

He told don't mess with my truck!!
I told him you brought this on yourself.. this was 8TH grade i think.

School grounds = public property, don't cave ask for a warrant and if need be take the suspension. Our rights are not checked at the door. Am I wrong for thinking this way?

Aren't school's consider state property? Even the school I'm in now as an adult, first day on campus, the County Sheriff that is on site tells everyone, you do not have any rights to privacy if it is on campus. You are subject to be personally searched, or you vehicle searched as soon as you are on school property. He made sure to let the adult's know, that even includes locking your C/C in your car, is a big no no, because they can search your car at anytime, and it is an instant felony.

I'm pretty sure the deputy was blowing smoke. You don't surrender rights by entering government property, no matter how much they'd like you to.

As far as I know they have always been able to check cars on school grounds. They probably didn't have the dog present because of liability (kids getting bit) try explaining that to parents.. . . I have worked some of the roughest schools in Tulsa and we used any tool we had access to.

Go down about 3 more cases to New Jersey v. T.L.O. (1985), it clarifies Tinker v. Des Moines (1969) in regards to the Fourth Amendment. Besides, Tinker v. Des Moines (1969) has been clarified that freedom of speech is not unlimited in a school, by Bethel School District v. Fraser, Hazelwood v. Kuhlmeier, and Morse v. Frederick.

According to your link, kids do check their rights at the door.

Constitution free zones - I saw a video today of a guy asking Berkeley students to name any of the bill of rights, only one new it was a founding doc. NOT ONE could name one right established by the bill of rights. : (
