What is the significance of the the Russian soldiers I've seen pictures of with unmarked uniforms, faces covered, and no magazines in the rifles?

You mean like this?

Russia's "invasion" of Crimea seems to have gone down with little to no fighting. Maybe they dont have magazines in their weapons because they dont want to provoke the local populace.
I still dont know why their uniforms arnt marked though. Maybe for a confusion tactic (though this seems unlikely to me). During the first hour or so of the invasion the invasion force was trying to pass as "anti-fascist defense forces" from within Crimea. Even now its still hard to tell which units these troops are from.
Not all of their faces are covered, just some of them. Maybe because its cold.

Crimea is an autonomous republic governed by the Constitution of Crimea, what are their rights if they don't want to join the EU? Could they have invited the Russians in? 58% of the Crimea population is ethnic Russian.

Could be. Partition the damn place and be done with it. Anti-climax AGAIN!
And to think, we could have had a world war. Saint John's 'shroom dreams could have come true. Now, all we'll have to show for it is this lousy teeshirt.

Winner, Winner, Chicken dinner.

The Ukraine was heading for a split anyway...the Russians already had at least one base in Crimea and a chunk of the population wanted to stay aligned with Russia.

"All I know is we don't need to go around the world solving other people's problems. We don't have the money and the manpower to do that. We caint take them people to raise. Of course, OBAMA hadn't got the bahws to do nothing anyway because he has the weak man's way of thinking. He's a weak-kneed limp-dicked arab-born ****** that aint willin to smoke em out.

So you better believe he's not gonna do what I don't want him to do, because he's a bad leader.

What if we had a good leader? A strong, resolute Decider, Who thought with his gut and shot from his hip? WERL WOE TREE, Jefro!"

This thread is like a scene from Dr. Strangelove.
