So, if I am understanding you both correctly. If the roles were reversed, then you would be supporting the Jewish side of the conflict?

Count me in that group as well. Im not a Israel hater or Palistinian lover. But my eyes are open to the plight of both sides. Tell me honestly that Israel isnt taking advantage of having the US as backup. And the Palistinians are suffering from it.

Have any of you that are sticking up for the Palestinians stopped to consider why the rest of the Arab world at large are not siding with Hamas in this one? Egypt, the Saudis, hell even the West Bank ain't bothering to help them out, about the only ones that are with Hamas are Qatar and Turkey. Think about it, the U.N. and all of Europe would be with them. But yet they aren't doing squat for Hamas. Egypt especially is understanding and doing what they can to shut tunnels on their border. Have you stopped to think that if the Palestinians would quit putting religious nutjobs in charge of their patch, that things might go better for them? Have they no accountability or responsibility for what's happening? You reap what you sow...

Well put.
You know, I think that's why I have so much respect for the Plains Indians of the 19th century - at least some of them fought 'til the bitter end to try to preserve their culture. We can see how well rez life has worked out, maybe the Palestinians learned something from them. I remember Arafat meeting with some Indian leaders, discussing the similarities of each situation.
Yeah, I was definitely thinking of them too when I typed my last.

You mean is it just because I don't like Jews? Hey, I'll have you know I was totally against the Roman occupation back in 63 B.C.!

I will always take the side of the resistance over the occupiers, secessionists over unionists, and those who desire not to be ruled over those who desire to rule over others.

Wonder why Hamas isn't lobbing rockets and attacking folks in Jordan? Guess they only have a problem with territory that is occupied by the Jews. Oppression by Muslims and Arabs is ok I guess?
Who did the inhabitants of Jordan displace and seize land from?

Yes, this land has been fought over since time immemorial, but the Arab Palestinian refugees and their ancestors have a much stronger claim to it than European Jews. When your best claim to a country is that some of your distant ancestors lived in the region in ancient times, it doesn't hold much water with me. For them to just move in, set up shop, and boot the current occupants out as if nothing had happened in the past two millennia just outrages my basic sense of justice.

The main peace I'm hoping for is that Sunnis and Shi'ites get over their little rivalry and unite against their true enemy. They could wipe Israel off the map if they would quit being such prima donnas over whether or not there's a Mahdi or whatever it is they argue about. Join forces to get rid of history's little redheaded stepchild nation once and for all, and that region could go back to being relatively peaceful and culturally homogenous... or as peaceful as Arabs can be with each other anyway. I may have my favorite, but really I would just like for them to hurry up and get it over with, and have one side completely wipe the other out. I am tired of hearing about this BS.

How is the US backing them? John Kerry has became the defacto leader of Hamas now.

That will NEVER happen. Even if it did for a brief moment in time, they would resume their savage hostilities against each other the moment they had the field to themselves again. You could almost say that Israel is the reason many more Sunnis and Shi'ites haven't killed each other...yet.

Just because one side may be bad or currently on top, does not automatically make the other side somehow "better". It just makes them the underdog. Nothing more, nothing less, especially in this case! :(

The bolded part is in the charter of Hamas.

Why would you want the Arabs to wipe Israel off the map?

Your saying the Middle east would be relatively peaceful and culturally homogenous if Israel was obliterated?

You really need to check out the history of that region. It will never happen.

U.S. resupplies Israel with munitions as Gaza offensive rages

The United States has allowed Israel, waging an offensive in the Gaza Strip, to tap a local U.S. arms stockpile in the past week to resupply it with grenades and mortar rounds, a U.S. defense official said on Thursday...

Additional Israeli requests for U.S.-manufactured ammunition were also being processed in the United States, the official said. The official did not offer further details on quantities or costs of ammunition already supplied or requested...

Separately, U.S. lawmakers were working in Congress to provide millions of dollars in additional funding for Israel's "Iron Dome" missile shield.

The U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee added $225 million for Iron Dome to a spending bill intended mainly to provide money to handle an influx of thousands of Central American children across the U.S.-Mexico border...

I really think the reason most Arab countries aint helping the Palistinians at the moment is because Syria, Egypt, Libya and Iraq are kinda busy. Iran is jockying for power. Lebanon or Jordan could be next to fall. Qatar and Yemen im not sure about. Saudi Arabia is kinda making the monkeys dance. They are the puppet masters.
