and it will shut down part of riverside drive soon, i believe. Since it will span the roadway and connect to the area near the river
They really screwed up a routine passtime of mine with this shutdown of Riverside drive. Ever since I moved to the Tulsa area 13 years ago I like to go out in the evenings just to get out of the house and to tweak drive one of my project cars since all of the daytime commuters are all gone off the road. Going down Riverside was one of the best parts of my drive. We use the park though and it will be nice when its all finished. Alot of memories there over the years.

So you're why the traffic reporter on KRMG called it Riverside "Raceway"? ;)

Some numb nuts decided to bulldoze a wonderful house and cut done dozens of 300 year old trees. Oh, and they'll close Riverside drive for 2 years. I trust the park will be really nice so everyone will forget the hassle to get it.

I got pissed because it screwed up my bike route to rivertrails from my house. Now I have to drive to 41st street lot and park there to ride, lest I dodge unacceptable amounts of traffic and construction. That lots always full on nice days, so if you see a 4WD Toyota up on the grass begging for a ticket, say hi - it's me.

But then I got to thinking "man, Tulsa is gonna keep growing crazy fast. It'll actually be nice to have this big park in the middle of town before everything around it is developed."

Better than a fawking strip mall. Cough cough Tulsa hills. I've become a fan of the Gathering Place, even if mostly homeless and winos gather there. It's still gonna be better than another strip mall or other ugly BS. Tulsa is growing for good or for bad. I'll take parks over another LowesKohlsTargetWhataburgerChickFilAFawkFest like we already have every 5 miles.

I'm with you on the park vs mall deal, but I'm betting you hear "The Gathering Place" mentioned on the news as often as Charles Page Blvd once it's open.
