Not sure of exactly how to do it, but I'd start with the families taking up religion again. Sadly, this country has been turning away from religious morals and are even calling religion nothing but superstition.

I'm not sure that's the way, although I accept your reasoning.

The churches don't offer services that I'm aware of. I think its just hard for people to talk to their kids about it and they don't know how to do it. Its extremely uncomfortable.

Perhaps the churches role should be to offer services that teach adults how to talk to kids about sex?

Then by all means, let's turn parenting responsibilities over to the government because parents don't have the guts to talk to their kids.

It's not "the government." It's science, biology, anatomy etc... All applicable venues for sex to be discussed in a class setting. I see nothing wrong with it and it's actually a good thing. I don't look at it as parental. It's just learning.

If God would just speak up instead of watching everyone having sex he could at least clarify some things... But I think he's just too into it.

Religion makes it worse. Take the taboo out of it, educate them, and kids won't want it so bad. Simple psychology.

If a parent is doing their job, the kids will understand re-production well before they hit these classes in jr high and high school. What we do not need is outside sources coming into schools teaching children how to masturbate, how to have sex and how to enjoy it. Yes, this happens, if you have a kid past fifth grade you will know this.

If you can't figure that one out on your own, then you cannot be helped.

One problem is many parents never talk about, or only partially cover, necessary sex education with their kids. Another problem is some kids specifically don't follow what their parents say. For many, it's a difficult issue to deal with, too difficult for some to even try. In many families, because of religious or ideological reasons, they specifically forbid talking about sex. This isn't an issue that can be pushed solely onto parents because that will only work in a minority of cases. We need to hit this from every possible angle, including by parents, but also in schools.

You should thoroughly examine your kid's sex-ed teacher to determine if she's got a handle on such a ticklish subject.

Our sex-ed teacher was a local Psychiatrist hired by the school board to teach in Junior High. His first subject was masturbation. Said it was evil because it caused hair to grow on the palm of your hands.

Of course every set of eyes went down and hands turned over to sneak a peek at their hands. I guess it was to break the ice, but I honestly don't remember any of the rest of the class. Just that part.
