No, I'm not "okay" with it. The assertion of this thread is that the Islamic faith is the underlying problem because the "majority" of Muslims think violence against unbelievers is okay and that isn't the case.
Do you have some ideas about how best to deal with the threat from the minority of Muslims who are support violence against unbelievers and others with whom they disagree?

Yes. Ive stated them several times. Go to a mosque, talk to people. Talk to the Imams. Go to their communities and engage them. Ask them why they think that way. Ask them why they are buying into an interpretation of the Koran that is widely rejected by scholars throughout the history of the Muslim world. I don't know if it's the "best" solution, necessarily, but it's something.
What about you?

Thanks ...I should have scrolled up. Dialog can be a good thing. I think internal fear of radicals within Muslim communities is a major issue.

Previously I suggested that self-policing needs to be done by all immigrant communities. Before entry into the US immigrants should be required to take an oath to reject all human rights abuses - honor killings, wife beating, female genital mutilation, killing of apostates, funding or support of terrorism etc..
Those who violate their oath of entry are to be deported, preferably via an expidited legal proceeding. Those who fail to report such activities are likewise subject to negative consequences. Our house, our rules.

Sharia to be completely and totally outlawed as well. Our house, our rules.

The same as yours.

Okay, so neither one of us have quite the experience of actually dealing with that culture that YG has. And out of 20-something pages in this thread, I'm one of only 2 or 3 people that have literally said "I'm no expert", "I could be dead wrong about all of this", "I've only got my own experiences to go off of".....

I agree with a lot of that. I think general fear of their whole community will make them withdraw into that community more. Hard to get them to trust our laws and police their own people in those circumstances.

First of all, as a Christian, I'm not going into a Mosque. Because they require you to take your shoes of in homage to their god. I show no deference to other gods.

2nd, if only 28% of 1.6 billion believe there should be a violent response to mocking their god, (and im betting its much, much higher in muslim majority countries) how many is that?

448,000,000 violent Muslims.

Think about this: Japanese Americans were unjustly deprived of their freedom and property in WWII, yet were highly patriotic. To the extent that our American Muslim communities complain and play their victim card (in very much milder circumstances) they are not doing themselves any favors.

If I were them I would flying American flags outside my house and being vocal in support of combatting terrorism...instead we get mild milk-toast public statements from them typically, if anything. This is very disturbing because it speaks of possible duplicity.

"Our rules" also include the First Amendment. The only lawful imposition of Sharia law going on in the US is individuals choosing to settle disputes according to its rules--that is, choosing the rules for contract arbitration, whatever the subject of the contract. Would you forbid individuals from contracting as they see fit?

Forcible imposition is, of course, already prosecutable as assault, battery, (attempted) murder, etc. No need to make it double-secret-illegal.

Very true. Go into some of these communities and ask them why they aren't as outspoken. A lot of the more western ones don't think they're going to win you over any more than you're going to win them over so why bother?

Tom, I have yet to see a poll of all 1.6 billion Muslims and even if there were, am I going to base my opinion of the faith on what one quarter of them think or the other 1,152,000,000?
