The wife and I decided to go to Quail Springs Mall the other day and see a movie and something is wrong but I can't quite put my finder on it, the theater is not as clean as it was a few years ago, we couldn't walk around the mall without being accosted by couple running concessions and of course Sears is gone. (I always like to go in and look at their tools and buy a few on occasion). But it seems the class has gone I suppose or maybe I'm getting older.
One thing I do know is that I am NOT going to travel on Broadway extension at anytime-especially rush hour unless I want to get in a wreck-some of those people drive like they are in California or Dallas! But in my opinion, the mall is gong the way of Cross Roads Mall in a few years.

Yes, the last couple times I have gone (and this has been several years ago already) it was not what it used to be.

Malls in general are dying nationwide, it would seem...

These are not the firearms you're looking for.

I think that Penn Square is now the 'premier' mall in OKC. Seems that they have more of the upscale establishments than does Quail.

Sears went out of business a while ago and I think it was macy's that is gone as well but it was another of the big "anchor" stores. Sears was bad off when they decided to buy K-Mart and the store closing was just a part of the initial downsizing. But a part of the issue is that the cost to heat and cool the places are so high. A large portion of the store rent goes towards that, if the stores are not popular enough they can't afford the rent so they move on which then makes it look bad and the few people who went to that store for one reason or another no longer goes to the mall at all which just causes the cycle to repeat. Disrepair creeps in and eventually the doors close.

Open air malls are malls are the thing now. Step daughter took us to one out by Phoenix a few years ago and where Cabella's is will be one eventually. I think the outlet malls by Yukon are made in a similar style.

Penn Square was always the more upscale of the malls since I have been here. They also have a lot more of the thugs walking around too.

Exactly. The companies can build open air malls and make more money because they don't have to provide AC in the summer and heat in the winter to accommodate shoppers. The gangs and thugs stay away because people aren't concentrated in common areas. Indoor malls are a thing of the past.
