Westbrook and Harden will be another two former Thunder players to win championships else where. Durant, Ibaka, seems like I saw a few other names that have. I predict no NBA title while Presti is at the helm. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Holy crap.

Well... we got Chris Paul, right? Great shooter, great ball handler, but can't stay healthy and in a game to save his life. And we're gonna pay him $24M a year. In his 15th year. And the last 3 years he's played less and less and the least of any year except his big injury year.

F me.

One thing the Thunder get out of all these mega trades is 1st round picks... in 2022-2026 we're gonna be stacking the HELL out of things... if we can AFFORD any of them. <sigh>

Sam Presti's playin' the long ball, for sure.

DAMMIT.

In addition, looking at stats, Chris Paul had one of his worst shooting years ever, with FG%, 3-PT% and FT% all being among the lowest in his career. And we're trading away a guy who has averaged a triple-double each of the last 3 years. The ONLY player in the history of the league - ANY league - to do so.

However, we did also clear out something like $276M in salary.

<edit> But I'm gonna have to get some new jerseys. Dammit. There's another aspect... if people want to wear Thunder gear that has current players, they gotta spend more money on gear- that's a boon to Presti and the gang.

Oh there's no doubt, if they make good choices in the 2021-2026 era, they can kill. IF they can pay for top talent at those stages. Or they can use those picks to trade for newer, younger stars.

I forget how many 1st round picks we have now, something like 12 or 14 between 2021-2026. Not to mention if we tank the next couple of years and end up in the the Lotttery... look at Philly. Great picks, The Process made for what looks like a superteam on paper, but they can't get anyone to pull it all together and 'gel' with the chemistry they need to pull off the big wins.

Yep, that was the problem the Browns had. Poor draft picks, poor coaching and poor management. Presti needs to find not only the next rising star players, but a rising star coach who can meld these young players into a well run team.

I just saw a graphic, showed OKC has an ADDITIONAL 15 1st round draft picks between 2020 and 2026.... that's not including their own. Now, I believe 2 of theirs are currently spoken for, to ATL, but they are also protected, meaning if OKC tanks and is in the lottery, they get them back.

And being able to potentially trade Chris Paul away before he ever dons an OKC uniform for even MORE picks or concessions is pretty good. I think that's what I'd do, I don't want an aging Chris Paul on my roster with a max deal and owing him $40M a year when he's like what, 38 years old? And probably won't play 30 minutes a game or 45 games that season. Pass....
